Media
Preparing Utilities
Most Digital Media (CompactFlash, SmartMedia, Memory Sticks, etc.) readers come
with a utility called "SMprep.exe" that can reformat damaged media
cards. These utilities are accessible from Windows Explorer, My Computer or
from The Start Menu. Once these utilites are run the files that existed on the
media are no longer retrievable. You should only run these utilities when needed.
Consult your media's owner guide or the guide provided with your reader or digital
device for more information.
When formatting
a media it is recommended that you use the command line formatter in Windows
unless you do not wish to recover files.
To format the media type in the following at COMMAND PROMPT. Replace e: by the
letter of your media. WARNING! If you do not know the correct drive letter you
risk formatting the wrong drive!

Hard Disk Drives
While you may see an option for disk drives, and RescuePRO will scan disk
drives, the option is available to accomodate devices that mount as drives.
Because of the large amount of files on a hard disk during the recovery is not
recommended that RescuePRO is run on hard disks.
